Heading back north on Interstate 5.
Interstate 5 north out of Gorman.
Interstate 5 north, just out of Lebec. Fort Tejon State Historic Park is off to the left there in the distance.
Though you can't see Bakersfield from here, you can see how the floor of the San Joaquin Valley opens up in the distance. Shortly a few miles ahead is where the 5 forks into the 99 toward Stockton and Interstate 5 toward San Jose.
This is Highway 99 just south of Arvin.
There is an old farmhouse to the right there behind those tall, leafless trees. It reminded me of Holcomb, Kansas. Never been. Just read about it in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.
Heading back south on Highway 99 toward Los Angeles.
